All About Me Bag

This is something that I did last year at the beginning of the school year.  The kids loved it and it's a fun way to get to know each other so I am going to do it again!  Simply give the kids a brown paper bag on the first day of school, have them bring it back the next day with four things in it that they can use to tell the class about themselves.  Throughout the day the second day of school I have a few different times set aside where I let the kids share their bags.  It is fun to see how excited the kids get when they discover that a classmate has something in common with them. This year I made a paper with directions to staple to the top of the bag so that it is easy for parents and students to see what they need to do! Get a free download HERE.

I know that there are many people who already do this activity but I hope that someone will find this helpful for the beginning of the year!

  4. I love this idea! This would be a great tool to use the first few days of school to get to know each other. It also allows the students to get a chance to talk about themselves and share information with the class. Thanks for sharing!

  5. In previous years I have had a Show-and-Tell at the beginning of the year. This will be a more condensed way to do it, plus take the pressure off talking in front of a big group, and allow for a lot of connections and conversations to happen. Thanks so much and best to you this new school year! Cheers!

  9. I'm going to try it in French class. It doesn't necessarily need to be on the first day in that case.
